February

This winter may be mild, but it hasn't stopped ice fishermen. We've got great ice fishing stories to prove how good of a season it's been. With only a few weekends of ice fishing left, we're preparing to say farewell to our tip-ups and gear up for spring fishing and turkey hunting!

Who's fish was it?

Mine: When you're sharing flags be sure to get the terms and conditions straight. This story gets the 'Team' award, because regardless of who's flag it was, it took two to pull up this monster bass. Read the full story here.

One, Two, Three: The third time's the charm, and this year the Crystal Lake Derby proved it. Even if fishing was slow, the food, music, planes, helicopters, and family atmosphere made up for it, and earn this story the 'Family' award. Check out the derby next year, and bring em all! Derby Month

February is the month for ice fishing derbies. We fished the Crystal Lake Derby in Gray, Hannaford Derby in Naples, and Taylor Pond Derby in Auburn. All were great derbies, and we're looking forward to fishing them again next year.

It you're still itching for a derby, don't miss the State Wide Rotary Derby on March 3rd and 4th.

YouHuntAndFish - In the Works

We're about ready to retire the ice shack for the season, and start preparing for spring turkey hunting in April. If that doesn't keep us busy we'll take our chances on a few coyote hunts.

A friendly reminder that the ice trap giveaway contest ends March 11th. We'll be giving away a Heritage Ice Fishing trap.

This month we hit 1000 unique visitors, which is a new record! We're very proud of this, and would like to thank everyone for getting us here.

As we continue to grow we'll add more content to the site. We've already started with the addition of public hunting land maps, to make finding hunting locations easier. Work has also begun on a turkey hunting page, with tips, locations, statistics, and more. If you would like to contribute to this page, send us an email. We'll give credit where it's due.

Good luck finishing up the ice fishing season!
